TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO THAT LOCALS ACTUALLY ENJOY DOING:
For example, a New Yorker would never suggest a visit to Canal Street to buy a fake purse. However we would (or at least I would) suggest watching the sun go down over the Statue of Liberty while riding the Staten Island Ferry (sitting outside of course) with a cold beer.
We’d love it if you’d reblog with suggestions if you live in or are familiar with any of these cities:
AUSTIN
- Austin
1. If the weather is rite, we all love to go to Barton Springs and swim in the sacred waters, lay on the grass, eat snow cones, wake board on Lake Austin or Lake Travis. Basically get in the water to escape the heat. 2. Jog, hike, bike, or canoe town lake. Go see Stevie Ray Vaughn’s statue. 3. 6th Street. There is Dirty 6th, which is where the college kids are, and West 6th which is a little more upscale. Both are great. 4. Go to concerts at Stubs, Emo’s, Antones, La Zona Rosa, etc. It is the live music capital of the world. You can find any genre and quality of music. 5. EAT. There are so many good Mexican and BBQ in Austin it is sick. Go to Trudy’s, Baby Acapulco’s, Chuey’s, Juan in a Million for Mexican. GO TO THE SALT LICK for BBQ, I can’t stress that enough.
